Pipe Band Tunes Empty Pipe Band Tunes

Post by True_Blue_Piper Tue 14 Oct - 17:34:24

Over the years and decades, fashion has hit the world of pipe band tunes......

It's rare to find bands nowadays that don;t have "Dawning of the Day" and/or "Hector the Hero" somewhere in their repertoire.....

Tunes come and go.....

Back in the 80s I seem to recall that virtually very band played "The Jiggernaut" or tunes from Neil Dickie's First Book. Marches such as "The Children", "Jimmy Findlater" were common as was the "Bathgate Highland Gathering".

Go back a few years and "The Banjo Breakdown" was big.........

Go back further into the 70s and "Murdo's Wedding" was commonplace....

In the late 1970s and early 80s...."Bluebells of Scotland" played with umpteem harmonies, the more the merier was the order of the day....

The "Black Bear" was another if you go further back.......to the Jurassic Park era.

What other tunes have been common place,........love them or hate them....what do you recall....
