Majors Judging allocation
The judging allocation for all grades has been posted on www.rspba.org under HQ news.
One startling fact springs to the eye, or mind as the case may be.
There appear to be NO overseas judges anywhere in the list.
Three reasons perhaps,
1, No overseas judge complied with the rules about being available,
2, Fallout over the worlds qualifying involving the Band Club
3, In the current economical climate, the association isn't going to spend a fortune of our money bring judges thousands of miles.
Knowing the RSPBA I reckon (3) is unlikely
Anyone know the reasons?
Cheers

....well, given that the Cleveland Fire Brigade Drum-Major story has been done to death, I reckon the RSPBA just thought, "what can we do to create a new thread on BDF that will get the Canadians wound up....I know...lets bar their judges"

Re: Majors Judging allocation
The RSPBA dont pay travelling fees, all Judges get the same attendance allowance. if they come from Canada or Glasgow its still about £60
I dont know the reasons behind it - i do know what the RSPBA are trying to claim but it looks kind of thin to me.
The RSPBA seem to be a bit of a Lumbering Giant of an organisation that needs to haul itself into the modern day , i think this is an misunderstanding at best and an underhand move at worst - whatever the reasons its about time the RSPBA became a lot more Transparent !!!!!
I go along to my local Branch meetings and there simply is not enough PM,s or LD,s or any other playing members going to the meetings.
The committee does not have one playing member on it ,just either people who have never played or retired some time ago.
I am not saying these guys dont do a good job at running comps, but there does not seem to be a ballance !!!!

Yes m8, ad tend to agree with yer comments. There again the onus is on the bands to have people who can verse their bands opinion on various matters of dispute / grievances.

Youe are absolutely right mate, bands need to get to the meetings and speak up.
I was at the last one, as was Lexy btw
Out of all the grade 1 and grade 2 bands in NI, only ballycoan was represented.
I can see that some bands don't bother, or just aren't interested, but I've always said that if you can't get off your fat arse and vote in an election, you have no right to moan about the state of the country.
My opinion, but i'll stick to it, same with bands, but I can appreciate that some people have time and travel issues
Grdae 3 and 4 bands seemed well represented, but there was a lot of MAP discussion, so that my change the next time
cheers

Thanks for the info mate,
Didnt know that about the fees, I do know that the NI branch pay travel, I though it was across the board.
A lumbering Giant is a very apt description, and they are well out of touch, in fact they seem to have forgotten the most important thing, that without the bands, there would be no association. It seems to me to be a bit like Dukes and Earls requiring tribute from the Peasantry. They have become unweildy.
It is our money, and its hard earned so should be spent wisely. Washington street is a bigger money pit than Holyrood, (pro rata), and the National piping School seems overrun by the Engerlish
Less admin, more oversight from bands, and a hell of a lot less of this we're imporant so we're better than you crap.
Bands Rule Ok!!
But again, if bandsmen don't go.................
