Re: somebody at the wind up???
Ok. Maybe my laptop went bananas whilst I was posting.
It's a good result for them for now but what happens at the end of the season? At least they are getting to play the majors. With the majority of the band being civvie players whats going to happen to them? It says also in the article that they are serving police officers 1st and foremost. That english B is needed chased back to where she came from, wonder if she's related to Edward Longshank.
There that was the post and naw cheeky I wasnae on the gin. Don't like gin anyway.

Re: somebody at the wind up???
I see this as a "stay of execution".
I urge all to write, e-mail or both to the senior officers concerned expressing your thoughts. Also contact any other person (Senior Officer, MSP, etc) whom you think may be able to put pressure on Mr. House.
The fight to retain the band should be continued during the season in order that proper judgement and consideration is given to the status of the band come September.
HM - Mr House is Scottish having been born here. I think that's about as Scottish as he gets. Ms. McGuire appears to be a bit of a "stirrer" from what I've read this past week. (Check out todays Herald). Neither of them are on my Christmas card list.
As I'm no longer a cop I can speak freely, unlike many of the band members.

Re: somebody at the wind up???
With regards to the latest press release from Strathclyde Police H.Q don't think the band is outa the fire yet, far from it.Seems
to me the massive initial impact from online petitions, e-mails ect'
has had at lest made these top dogs take a step step 'n say wow, wtf?.
IMO it's only a smoke screen The campaign needs to shift into another
gear, and the pressure kept on the powers to be so as they know, the
smoke screen press release is fooling no one.The latest to come from the PT ( http://pteditor.blogspot.com/ ) blog is yer woman had already put a red line through today's solo contest. Beggars belief eh?.The
press release was nothing short of a PR exercise papering over the
cracks......the fight and drive to save the band has only started.
Please
don't be fooled into thinking all's well......it's not, hence the press
release to draw away the media pressure.....the pressure must be kept
up at all time.

Re: somebody at the wind up???
Iain,
How do you feel about pulling together the full and proper story about this?
There has been a lot said, and much of it will have been speculation and hearsay,
I'm not sure what to believe, but it seems that the band is not being binned, but that officers within the band will have to put policing first and banding second, ie using leave instead of duty credit to play etc
If you could put together a post that separates all the waffle it would allow us to see where the thing is actualy at
cheers

Well if I do that it would maybe compromise the guy I've spoken with. Things have been said I'd rather not divulge. You know as well as I mate how things are in a situation such as this.......very dodgy situation if anyone is caught speaking out of turn.
The only thing I can say is to lend support and sign all online petitions ( again ) keep the pressure ongoing, as I said. That press release was done to pour water on the fire m8, nothing more, nothing less...a PR stunt.
The Piping Times petition link is very strong indeed, I'll put it up again, although most will have probably signed it already, if not please do sign.

Janelle, anything to keep it in the headlines.............that would indeed be a good call. The news paper running the story would I feel run something like this if enough people contacted them.
Good call.
Good call.

Fair enough mate,
I well remember the constraints under which I had to work sometimes, it still rankles at times.
It would be nice if some of the wilder rumours could be scotched as what might happen is that people will get carried away and become abusive through email or letters etc, that will do SPPB no good at all.
Do you know if the Police Federation have become involved?
