What's happened to the standard of play?
I'm currently listening to vol one of the World's cd. The following bands had an early e:
Shotts on their MSR
78th Frasers on their Medley
SLOT on their Medley
Out of the top six bands three of the bands had a blown attack. Was this due to the horrible weather conditions or is it something else? Is a blown attack or cut off ok at this level? Personally nothing drives me nuts in a band atmosphere more then a blowing the basics such as an attack or cut off. What's your thoughts?

Good for you listening and learning at the same time. I mean that in a nice way and in no way criticise you.
A "blown attack" (your words) suggests to me that it was a total "cock up', "mess' or even "pathethic" for that standard of band.
A "bad attack" (my words) suggest that a......
Piper did not get the drones up in time or sounded an early "E".
Drummer was not in sync with the rest of the corp. (Sorry, I'm not a drummer so don't know what else can happen. I suppose the skin could burst).
I will not say the year (some surfing and listening required) but my own good self can be heard having a "bloody awful" attack with the polis.
I'll give you a clue........early 1990"s!!!!!
A "bad attack" does not necessarilly "blow it" but will cost the band points.
The "attack" itself is down to the player and has nothing to do with weather conditions. The good player will know his instrument and compensate for prevailing conditions at the time.
