had my usual phone call, and delighted to say that the Drumlough came in a brilliant Second, not bad going for the first one of the season, Iain did tell me who wonh? but i could not make it out? and nothing to do with him being bladdered either?, just too much noise in the background.
Well Done The lough, next week will be the Biggie, to set the scene.

Re: Banbridge. First day in 3A
Not long in, but the Bacardi is going down well,
I did hear Drumlough, they has a pretty solid run, and came a very creditable second in what will be a tight grade all year, they were beaten by Cottown, a well established G3 band, and 3rd was Upper Crossgar, a band downgraded last year from G2
Got a quick chat with Redneck, and he has the ultimate piping assessory, a hipflask disguised as a meter.
We came in third as expected, FMM were first, SLOT second and Cullybackey fourth and last.
We had a pretty good run, couple of very wee issues here and there, but a lot of people were commenting on the improvements from last year, all in all fairly pleased.
Grade 1 in Northern Ireland will be a funny grade, in many cases it will be a forgone conclusion purely due to the limited number of bands, so the majors will give us all a better idea of where we really are.
On a personal note. I had a cracking run, one of those were you have ages to put things in, and piping at that level feels easy,
Pity they're all not like that
But a good starter, and leaves us looking forward to Dumbarton next week,
Thats for the good wishes, they are very much appreciated
Anyone who is there should try and hear FMM, the new medly is, well, different, i'm not sure about it at all,
Cheers

Cheers m8,
Happy wi the result, but not wi our performance. Gordy hit the nail on the head ref' his band, likewise wi ourselves, but hey, good result as stated against well established grade3 band AND a downgraded gade2 outfit..........all in all well pleased.
The weather played havoc wi a lot of bands including grae1 outfits, after a fantastically warm spell and chanters set accordingly the coldish spell today called for ( in our case ) some slight adjustment to pitch 'n tape adjustments.
things like this will happen all season, with a good team in (Drumlough) things like this can be sorted quite easily, the downside is maybe there's not enough time to run over the competition sets as often as you'd like, but IMO by this stage bands shouldn't need to run over the set as often as would be required in the band hall. Contest day IMO is the time for fine tuning and nursing the sound along.
@Gordy, good luck next week m8.
