Re: Grade1 Withdrawals ( Banbridge )
It is a farce, but then the same thing happened years ago with the Home international footy tournament, One team pulled out and the whole thing folded.
Leaving Northern Ireland as still the reigning British Champions BTW
If the police bands choose not to come, thats up to them, but the rules must not be changed, I dont think theres time for that anyway.
I didnt see a rule change when there are competitions in far away places, that are a complete embuggerance for the NI bands
We'll see how this pans out, but as SPPB seem to be a society within the police, rather than a formal police band, the matter should be up to the playing members not the shiney arses

The prison service band im sure played away during the troubles & they were probably putting these boys to bed at night.
I don't think we've anything to worry about.

I would like to put my cynical head on here, AND I DON'T WANT TO FALL OUT WITH ANYBODY,
It does perhaps open the possibility that Certain Scottish bands are trying to find an excuse not to travel.
I am saying this is ONLY a possibility, but I do know that certain Scottish bands cry like babies when they have to come over here for 1 weekend a year, conveniently forgetting that we have done it for decades, travelling up to 6 times if you include the worlld drumming.
The security situation here is always going to be a talking point, Northern Ireland is full of vested interests. And war makes money, Terrorism created more millionairs over here than the lottery erver did
I don't see the problem at all, But the person in charge of SPPB might have had her large spoon out again.
You would have to be a complete moron to believe that any republican terrorist is going to have a go at a Scottish police band, when they have a multitude of targets here already that fall more readily in the category of 'enemy of ireland'
No rationality behind it at all, but plenty of scope for excuses.
As for the next three years at Stormont castle, its a done deal, RSPBA NIB will go legal if gets changed. and as Washington street is broke, they won't want to do that, especially now that classification has been recieved regarding members assets.
cheers

Superb post my friend, and am behind everything you say.
However to single out the SPPB is not justified. This ruling concerns every Police Force band in Scotland, not just Strathclyde.
Good post m8.

Sure hope not m8, that is an outstanding setting for a contest. You'll even get to see the famous statue of Sir Edward Carson.

Didn't intend to single out SPPB at all ,mate
Its the hierarchy within that force I was getting at, sometimes I wonder what goes on behind closed doors at so called Regional management conferences etc
One wee hint dropped by a particular person at a conference, another picks it up, adds a bit, passes it off asd their own idea, and tries to use it as a promotion lever, neverending circle of careerism that is endemic in senior police circles.
cheers
