Re: Scottish Championships results
I never heard FMM or SLOT but listened to shotts and the Police, and i think its an absolute disgrace that shotts were placed above the Police. They were very very thin on the sound and they werent together in the later stages of their s/spey whilst the police had good sound and tone and produced a fantastic solid performance. The Police should have arreseted to the judges for robbing them and I am a shotts fan or should I say I was.

It was an absolute f in disgace! I dont know how Mathieson could sleep last night, I would have been embarssed to collect the trophy and to some degree the bands reaction or lack of told the story. It was like oh poop how the or we knew we would get summit! they didnt seem too bothered.

Re: Scottish Championships results
Why change a habit of a lifetime. Noticed a discrepancy in the piping, what was the score with Robert Wiseman Vale of Atholl, a mean 13th and 5th. What was happening there? Someone got their lugs painted on or have'nt removed their cotton wool.

2 immediate thoughts on this,
Who was right, bands always assume that it is the lower place that is wrong, it may not be so,
Disparity of more than 3 places is supposed to be examined by the RSPBA, it may be done, I don't know, but I have never heard of an outcome from it, or a results change.

Re: Scottish Championships results
I can remember(back in the good old days) that if there was more than 4 places in scoring from the Judges, you would get a letter of explanation before the next Comp.
It never changed anything mind? but you got a letter full of S*** which i suppose was meant to make you feel better

Heard the Vale tuning up, not a 5th place, but by no means 13th either. Never heard them in the ring mind but from tuning up they were very quiet piping wise, Strathclyde Fire & Rescue were drowning them out and that's never a good thing!
Dumbarton was an up and down day with weather taking its toll on most bands, never had the chance to hear any G1 bands compete but heard the stories from friends who had heard the whole competition and they recon the results were correct apart from the Shotts getting 3rd.
As for Boghall, we didn't hit it off on the day and the drones went to hell so we didn't deserve any higher than what we got I dont think. We all know what we need to do, so its just a matter of getting back the the practise hall and improving.
Here's to the next one!

Re: Scottish Championships results
Yip, well said Peter m8. Nothing worse than knowing it went wrong and could be better, but knowing it can be fixed is even better.
Yiz'll be fine m8, off day as ya said, a good band will only get better as the season progresses.
Much to be said as I've often stated in getting a minor in prior to a biggy.
