Re: adjudicators for 2008 majors
Thanks Crazy,
Looks a fairly balanced set for Grade 1 anyway, although there are 1 or 2 jokers in the pack
Just remains for bands to put in the performances, and hope for an honest sheet.
Thanks again

LOL, somebody has to be the cynic. I have a little spare time on my hands to day and thought I'd step up to the plate.

Unless you are really up there challenging, as long as the band feels the performance was good and the sheet matches what the band heard it is not the end of the world, however when you are placed however when there is a great differnce in piping judges places the there is call for cynasism

Very true mate,
Thing is, sometimes when you read the sheets, you think to yourself, ' what band did he judge?'
That sort of thing really annoys me, and along with it, unconstructive sheets.
For example, how many times have you seen what I call the 'Generic sheet'
Intro,... Good 'E' and uptake to march
March, good tempo, nicely played, slight lack of expression in last 2 parts
Strathspey ...... slight lack of drive, intonation issues in 2/3 part, blowing last part
Reel, ..... Good tempo, lack of holding in middle parts,, intonation issues again.
Chanters well set, failing on top hand, drones failing towards end.
Nice performance
Not a bad sheet at all, so he puts you last,
We have all seen sheets like this, feels like it has been written the night before, and in truth, is so common, it is less than useless,
I'm not looking for an essay from them, but a balanced sheet, and if they can't, they should be replaced

Re: adjudicators for 2008 majors
Here's a quote off one of our sheets a couple years back.
"your selection was kind of like purple cabbage. At the end of the day it's still salad." Now what were we supposed to learn from a comment like that? What a waste of time.

Well somebody had to do it, maybe it was better that it came from the judges.
