New Teaching Job!!
Well tomorrow I am starting a new teaching job at Lathallan Private School. I am going to be teaching every second tuesday from 3.00 till 7.30pm the tenor drum. I will be working along side Jimmy Semple, John Nevans and Scott Niven. So far I have 5 kids for private lessons at 30min a slot from 3.00pm till 5.30pm then my tea then the band practice from 6.30 till 7.30pm. Good paying job. Wish me luck it's a prep school so all young kids. Will be good fun though.

Yeah Gordon travels and teaches at a few schools, The only downfall of doing it full time is you don't get paid for the holidays as you are counted as part time in each school although its your full time job. Gordon still has his TG Business so he isn't stuck.

Gordon is the L/D at Boghall.
Gordon Rogers isn't there anymore. He wasn't doing a very good job seemingly! It's now Jim Semple and John Nevans doing the piping. They made me feel very welcome yesterday had a good laugh. It's sooooo layed back. Good bunch of kids. Very polite lol

So why would you shut the lot of them down?
That would mean that Fee....would lose her new job.....and my kids wouldn't have a school to go to....(yeh...OK, they'd probably be happy)

Re: New Teaching Job!!
Because true - In the UK the social devide between classes is wide enough as it is, and it's only getting worse. So much so infact, that the old classes of "upper, middle and lower" do not exist any more - they've had to be split into more; A, B, C1, C2, D & E. Private schools only increase the social devide amongst children at a vaery young age, and this can be hard if not impossible to shift once they become adults.
Also, in this country - the private schools are free to employ any teachers. This means that the best teachers, are being took to the more well paying schools. Surely every child deserves the same education, no matter how much money their mummy and daddy make?

If I have the money to do so, why shouldn't I be able to spend it for my children to have a private education? After all, those that send their children to private schools also pay their taxes, which are used for the state schools, yet they do not use the state schools.
I've heard so many young people say the same thing as you, and yet when they are older and have children, they often change their viewpoint. They want the best for the kids after all. And don't even get me started on some of the self-righteous (left-leaning) politicians who go on about it....yet send their own kids to private schools.
Then there's the catholics having their own schools (some being state and some private), much as I would have them banned.....I'm sure those who are catholics would not agree. Then we've got the muslims wanting their own schools etc. etc. When does it end?
Then lets say, you have a job and do exactly the same work as your colleague, but he or she has a university degree and you don't...is it fair that he or she gets paid more than you? He/she may have spent four years at university, but you have spent that four years working.
The world is not perfect, there are lots of things that just ain't bloody fair.
I was lucky enough to go to private school (for secondary) and yes, it was a good school.
All three of my children go to international schools which are "private schools", although I don't have much choice in that regard, herein.
Nonetheless, If I was in the UK and could afford to send my kids to private schools such as Dollar Academy, Stewarts Melville College, George Watsons etc.....I certainly would. I have no qualms about it whatsoever.
Instead of saying, get rid of private schools, shouldn't you be focusing your energy on getting the local education authority to raise the standard in the state education sector to that of the private schools?

I won't pretend to understand how the system works in the UK or anywhere else, but here, far too much money from the government gets poured into private schools on the premise that it helps alleviate the strain on the state system. Bulls**t!!! Many of them get more government funding than the state schools.
I have no problem with Private schools as long as it's all paid for privately and not government funded at all.

Ron I agree with you each and every step of the way, I fully believe that if a Parent wants to pay for their Childrens education then they are doing what THEY believe is right for THEIR Children.
If I was a young Parent I know what road I would take,

Yep I agree freedom of choice is the key- I didnt need to think about it at all - complete faith in our local schools - what was a wee bit annoying was the Farquar and Torquil teams allowing Timothy and Prudence go allong to the fab Primary School but lifting them out when higher education came along but hey ho
But all this aside Good Luck Fee
