Bag worth a try!!
Not one to jump in a plug for the sake of it, but the Moose bag ( and valve) are booth worth checking out. If you are with a band using Ross system or similar it is a very good alternative to the full Ross bag, no pressure on stocks due to the unique stock system. In addition the zip is angled so you really don't notice it. The valve is also good like the beck valve but pos a little more robust and easier to fit, I don't know I 2 moose valves. Worth a try, Ross bag is also good, I loved the clamp bag!!

Re: Bag worth a try!!
ime playing the bannatyne just now its really good but i think the next one will be a Mose Bag just to try it, what kind of weight is in it??
One thing ime dissapointed in with the Bannatyne is that they charge 2 diff prices dependent where the zip is !!!! the newest version the zip is along the bottom but it is about £20 more expensive ???

Let us know how you get on,
I'm back on a sheepskin, and to be honest, I prefer it above any of the synthetics
I would be interested in how it 'Feels', ie does it deaden the chanter, that type of thing
Cheers

What ya sayin' here Gordy?, Tupperware bags deaden the chanter sound?
Can't agree wi ya there if ya are m8, my chanter is crackin' m8, ask yer partner in grime Scotty. He heard it last Sat' mornin'.
Could be the reeds yer using'..........most likely is them m8, infact a wid bet ma bottom dollar if ya put a Chesney reed in yer volume/balance would be much better.
Don't think it's a bag matter IMO.
*** BTW 3-4 Reeds outa a batch of 24 ain't a good thing m8*** change yer reed maker, I know ya have no control over it where ya are now m8, but that's yer problem.

Re: Bag worth a try!!
The bag is comparable wieght to a Ross bag, with similar feel. The best bits are pos of the zip and the fancy stocks.
Not sure how many tins you can fit in it yet will keep you posted
As for sound I'm getting a bright sound with Warnock plastic chanter and Chesney reed an d great sound with ABW Mcfarlane and Ross reed . I am very fussy about taking canister out etc however

It does, what i'm getting at, is the feel of the chanter in your hands, I certainly didnt have it last year with Chesney chanter and reeds, and a canmore, the sound lacks the richness of naturals,
And placcy drone reeds dont help,
If you are still on the cane bass and placcy tenors you will be a bit better off, but if you have any, stick in a couple of cane tenors and you will hear your top hand improve right away, your 'C' will flatten too.
Scotty???? aye right
If you are compus mentis after we play next saturday, I will give you a blow on mine, trust me, you will be surprised.
I know where you are coming from with those chanter reeds, they are far from reliable at present, you need to go and pick them, thats what we do, and arent having any sound issues at all, apart from a bit of bad blowing from one or two who seem to be wanting to eat burgers when we are on the line.
Scotty???

, well am not convinced m8, each to their own. You know as well as anyone how fussy I am, yes I'd love to play a sheepskin again, blew Don Bradford's pipes last year. Sheepskin bag, tight as a drum 'n comfort was excellent too.
Thing is, as much of a traditionalist as I am I find my set up spot on.

What i'm trying to get at, is, that my pipes right now, have a far more 'feel' to them. I can't put any more accurately than that, more feel than last year with synthetics i mean.

Re: Bag worth a try!!
I had used the Moose valve for two years, I liked it. It is both a valve and a water trap. I never had a problem with it. I had to drop it when I bought my Gibsons, they come with a split stock water trap. No room for the moose valve.
As far as bags, I still like both the L & M Scotian Hide outside and goretex inside. I also like the Gannaway also a hybrid bag. I am using both bags on my two sets of pipes. I have the Canamore gortex on my Fireside small pipes, I hate the flimsy feel of them.
One of these days I will try the hide or sheepskin bags just to give it a go. At my level, it won't make a difference.

Re: Bag worth a try!!
I have a Moose bag on my new McCallum pipes but find that the stock holes seem to be offset at an angle and therefore the drones keep slipping off my shoulder. I have not had this problem with the Ross bag in my other pipes.
