Dungannon,
Not long back from Dungannon, A mixed day weatherwise, brightened by a nice chat with Gillian,
Results as follows
G4b- Theipval mem/ Lisnamulligan/Tullintrain. Drums Wm Kerr
G4a - Quinn/Letterkenny/Moneygore Drums Bready
3b - Castlerock(and DRums) Black Raven/Ballydonaghy
3a )_ Aughintober (and Drums)/Howard/McNeillstown
2- Killeen/ Ravara (and drums)/ 7 towers
1 -- Slot (ens pref) (and drums)/ FMM / Ballycoan/Cullybackey
Speaking for Ballycoan, we had a pretty good run, our drones didnt lock in as well as they should have. One small slip, pretty good overall, very pleased.
Personally I had a great run, really enjoyed it, one of those runs were you could play all day in the circle. Looking forward to Dumbarton
It was a difficult day for pipes with wide ranging temperatures, and TBH all the bands had issues, especially keeping drones on, but it was a faily level playing field.
Cheers

Re: Dungannon,
Hello! Had a good day and thanks again for the cuppa. Did not like FM's MSR they had a stinkin intro and felt Ballycoan played better. Expected Slot to win. Have taped some of the bands so will get them on as soon as.

Re: Dungannon,
Yes m8, think our first will be 23rd, but definitely the 30th. Can't wait.
StevieB heard all the grade yesterday. We are quietly confident of progressing from last years haul.
Having said that, it counts in the circle, not in the bandhall. Feeling confident myself, but am also realistic. Will just be glad to see us out after being near caput at xmas time.

Re: Dungannon,
Jeeze that was quick......... you youtube trawler you.
Was it my imagination or have the big guns pulled back on tempos ?
Not a bad idea IMO, sounded more controlled from both, not that they ever lost it, but that tempo was nice.
Thoughts anyone?
No Ballycoan clip?...............Awwwwwwwww.

, bit round in places for me. Would have liked a stronger pulse beat. That will come I'm sure.
The same will apply to all bands on their first run out, once the rustiness of not competing is brushed aside things will undoubtedly pick up all over.
Bet the 'Coan weren't 100%, TBH ad doubt if any band will be boomin' this time a year, yes, it all sounds good in the hall.........but yer not competing.
Just hope the weather picks up fer y'all next Saturday.........damn.........gonna miss y'all 'n bootin' Robbie too,............any takers to fill the Redneck's boots fer a days bootin'?.

I would agree mate, too round for me, but TBH, we would have been the other way, too clipped.
As a sidenote, we also had 2 wildly differing piping sheets, one full of praise, and one full of critisism, both contradicting each other.
What do you do??

Do as yiz have been doin', who's gonna beat yiz apart from SLOT 'n FMM?
The reports on the 'Backey haven't been favourable m8, seems they wouldn't get into top 3 in grade 2.
Haven't heard 'em yet so can't comment.
The usual moans and the rain ain't yet dried on the finale arena.........class, this is gonna be some craic.
Gordy, I know where yer comin' from, but we've been over it all before. Chill, get a beer, join the 'Lough, and enjoy the banter........am afraid the 'Poachacoan syndrome is starting to set in m8.............get oot while ye can.

Re: Dungannon,
Thats wise advice mate,
Thats what gets me about piping, its too easy to take it seriously, and get wound up
Take a look through the judges list,
How many of them at their best could play in a current mid table grade one band, let alone FMM
Damn few, drummers seem even harder done by in this respect
No wonder i drink !!!!

Re: Dungannon,
Dai, he has a point. There are judges who shouldn't be there.
You go out, have a crackin' run. Then every Tom,Dick 'n Harry applaud you 'n say " Hey, that'll be hard da beat "
Results.............sweet FA. This has happened, Gordy will tell you, there are some pundits standing around the arenas could show some judges up.
No wonder I drink too. We can laugh 'n joke, but sometimes it does get da ya.
