Worlds Grade 1 Band History
A friend was asking me if there were any good websites for reading about the history of the Worlds at grade one level to get an idea which bands have won, something about the bands, etc. I know of several sites with a bit of info, but nothing comprehensive. Any suggestions?

Re: Worlds Grade 1 Band History
To my knowledge there are no specific sites dedicated to this, the only historical records I know of are the past winners records held on the official R.S.P.B.A site.
Doing a different search on each band may divulge some insight into the various bands, some of which are now defunct..........other wise am sorry m8. Best I can come up with.
Which sites did you come across?.........  a wee linky thing wid be good. ;)

There is a site somewhere that list all the winning bands going back for years. I'm not sure where to find it though.
I'll have a look and if I can find it , I'll post it here.

This is the site I was thinking of. It gives a list, also has all the other grades, plus links to band web pages.
I'm assuming it's info is correct.
Hope it helps.

I think everything I've ever come across has been on the band web sites, Iain. I couldn't even find the past winners records on the RSPBA web site.Redneck wrote:To my knowledge there are no specific sites dedicated to this, the only

That's a good list, Janelle, and a very comprehensive list of pipe bands on his other page, including us!! I notice he doesn't have the 2006 or 2007 championships there, so maybe he has given up on updating the list... or he's like a few other silly people and doesn't like FMM.Janelle wrote:http://www.media-mantic.com/champs.htm

Wow, that's a wonderful site, Ron!! Thank you so much! Like David, I could spend the whole day there. But unlike David, I am on holiday right now and really CAN spend the whole day there! Well, almost... I do have to go eat turkey with the extended family, and practice before my lesson tonight. But there's always tomorrow!!
I was excited to see an article on the site about one of my favourite people, and one of the very few well-known pipers I've met... Angus MacColl. Angus is one of the instructors at the piping workshop I attend each February. I even had a private lesson with him this year! I was very nervous about that, but he put me at ease immediately and we had a great lesson. Oh, and he's tons of fun on the Mardi Gras float in the four-hour-long parade!!!

Came across this site some years ago but never "bookmarked" it. I knew it existed but not knowing where or how to find it is the reason I have not posted so far.
Maybe someone with "IT" knowledge could contact the owner and have it updated. If nothing else it is of good historical value to the world of pipe bands.
